During the last years architecture has seen a widespread diffusion of rendering, what before was seen as an “extra” for few people, it is becoming now more and more used even in the most common professional activity. The evaluation of a project by clients and professionals starts from the images that offer the general perception of the spaces and the characteristics of the architecture, a lot of time in advantage before their construction.
If some year ago rendering was reserved just for the commercial projects, it was mainly used once the project was already completed. Now, because of the growing demand for images, we try to internalize production as much as possible in order to be faster and more efficient throughout the project development phase. In addition, rendering is becoming fundamental in marketing campaigns, and it is a precious ally during the design phase, to better understand what we are developing, to make decisions faster and safer and to make fewer errors thanks to the precision of the integral 3D model.
The most important challenge: the highest quality in the shortest time, at affordable costs
The workflow of a design studio sees, in its ideal condition, the production of renderings to evaluate daily progress, with multidisciplinary teams and during the reviews with customers. This implies the need for simple tools to use, suitable for the designer, and not only for graphics specialist. At the same time, the rendering system must be fast, because nobody can afford to spend many hours calculating a simple image.
Therefore, rendering has to be done in an high quality, because the level of images produced in the architectural visualization market is increasingly higher and higher, thanks to the work of many specialists and above all thanks to rendering engines that are increasingly easier to be used.
They are able to make appreciable results even with preset settings.
All of this must be achievable with a medium-power hardware, the one that is usually used for 3D modeling, with the only foresight to install a good video card, seen that many rendering engines now are using the GPU calculation as a base. Design studios, in particular medium-small ones, aren’t unlikely able to invest in the purchase and above all in the constant updating of high-end workstations and renderfarms. Moreover, this is not a requirement that coincides with the main activity of a design studio, which remains focused on the construction of architecture and engineering works. Rendering production is therefore useful and functional on the whole process, it is decisive under the communication point of view, but it is not the main focus under the business point of view.
It has to be simpler, faster, with an higher quality, but without spending a lot of money.
Basically it would take almost a miracle to accomplish this, but today this dream is becoming true.
The eyecad VR 2020 solution
After a deep and widespread analysis of rendering needs for architecture and engineering studies, a software has been developed that is able to give a practical and concrete answer, without getting lost in misleading aesthetic derivations. Eyecad VR 2020 allows you to set materials, lights and render with an extremely simplified method. The interface makes highly practical and fast all automated operations, solving the rendering needs of most architectural production useful for professional studios with just a few clicks.
Thanks to its real-time 3D nature, Eyecad VR instantly displays an image with a quality that is very close to the one of the final rendering, directly in the display window. Basically, the user constantly has a preview of the result automatically.
Once the scene has been set, a little more than a simple click is enough to create a rendering as you like. Images and videos at any resolution, 360 interactive and contents can be explored in first person like in a video games, in order to evaluate in a realistic way the project and to share with customers the feeling of being really inside the spaces, even in virtual reality.
Eyecad VR 2020 is therefore a solution that allows you to quickly and easily create images with an high quality. It can be used on desktop and notebook systems (Windows and Mac) that are cheaper than professional workstations usually used by professionals in computer graphics.
Is this the miracle? No, because it is not a miracle, it is just a way to take advantage of the rendering technologies that were available just for the production of video games, and just adapting them to architectural visualization!

Ray-tracing rendering: the new frontier of image realism
Eyecad VR 2020 introduces a new rendering mode: ray-tracing. Compared to traditional real time engine technology, ray tracing allows you to rely on a physically correct lighting system, that means the possibility of using real global lighting and having remarkably realistic effects, starting with the reflections and refractions of the used materials. It means a more realistic simulation of the architecture itself, which is expressed through its own visualization.
During the creative phase of the final rendering, it is not a pure real time, as in the case of the “realistic” rendering mode, even in the case of very high image resolutions. we will notice that with the same hardware, the time required for the calculation is considerably less than the average required by the offline ray-tracing engines that we find on the most common 3D production software.
The ray-tracing mode of Eyecad VR 2020 is currently in beta testing due to its continuous implementation and ameliorations, but it does not necessarily require the use of an NVIDIA RTX video card, even if the use of a high-end GTX is recommended.
